After a 20-6 victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats in Oklahoma's conference opener, the Sooners have moved up two spots in the Sept. 24 edition of the AP Poll.

Now ranked No. 14 in the nation by AP's voters, OU held the No. 16 position in last week's poll. This marks Oklahoma's first AP top 15 ranking of the season after kicking off the year at No. 19.

The Sooners leapfrogged No. 20 Mississippi (previously ranked No. 15) and No. 19 Oregon State (previously ranked No. 14) in the rankings after the Rebels and Beavers both dropped their first game of the year on Saturday. Directly ahead of OU in the AP Poll are No. 13 LSU, No. 12 Alabama and No. 11 Notre Dame, who all have one loss.

Aside from the three aforementioned squads, every team in the top 18 of AP's most recent poll is still undefeated.

Oklahoma's 4-0 start has helped Brent Venables and company rise five spots through the first four weeks of the season. If OU is able to take care of business against Iowa State next weekend in Norman, both the Sooners and the Texas Longhorns will likely be ranked within the top 15 when the two teams meet in Dallas on Oct. 7.

Led by head coach Steve Sarkisian, Quinn Ewers and No. 3 Texas will be the Sooners' first ranked matchup all season.

In the Coaches Poll, OU remained at No. 14 after receiving the same ranking last weekend. The Sooners are preceded in the Coaches Poll by the same 13 teams as the AP Poll in a slightly different order.
