Poll Report: Oklahoma Holds Steady After Surviving UCF Upset Bid

In this story:
NORMAN — Oklahoma survived.
The Sooners needed a lead-extending touchdown from Gavin Sawchuk as well as for Kendel Dolby to swallow up a 2-point conversion play to sneak past the UCF Knights 31-29 on Saturday.
It was far from perfect, but the important thing is OU remained unbeaten, moving to a perfect 7-0 overall and 4-0 in Big 12 play.
A touch-and-go performance can often lead to a minor backslide in the polls, but teams around the country struggled in unison with the Sooners.
Washington, riding high off last week’s marquee win over Oregon, turned the ball over four times, needing late heroics to survive one-win Arizona State 15-7.
Houston pushed Texas to the limit, and North Carolina sustained its first loss of the year at the hands of Virginia.
As a result, the Sooners held steady at No. 6 in the AP Poll this week.
OU actually gained one spot in the USA Today Coaches Poll, moving up to No. 6 as a result of Penn State dropping to No. 10 following the Nittany Lions' loss to Ohio State.
Now, the Sooners turn their focus to Kansas (5-2, 2-2).
The Jayhawks sat idle last week, preparing for OU, but there still isn’t clarity on if Preseason Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year Jalon Daniels will return at quarterback for Kansas.
Lance Leipold’s team received votes in both the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll, but will be unranked for this Saturday’s 11 a.m. kickoff on Fox.
