Poll Report: Oklahoma Drops in AP Poll, Picks Up First-Place Vote in Coaches Poll

In this story:
It’s hard to “win” the bye week, but Oklahoma appears to have managed that feet over the weekend.
Fresh off OU’s 34-30 win over Texas in the Cotton Bowl, it seemed like everyone wanted a piece of the Sooners.
Quarterback Dillon Gabriel joined ESPN for a midweek interview, and linebacker Danny Stutsman linked up with the Pat McAfee Show to recap the win and promote Stutsman’s new t-shirt line.
Come Saturday, Brent Venables’ team sat idle while multiple ranked matchups waged across the country.
As a result, Oklahoma didn’t move too much in either the AP Poll or the USA Today Coaches Poll.
The Sooners stayed put at No. 7 in the Coaches Poll, while Washington’s 36-33 win over Oregon vaulted the Huskies over OU, dropping Oklahoma to No. 6 in the AP Poll.
OU did receive a first-place vote in this week's coaches poll.
Only undefeated teams remain above Oklahoma, with unbeaten Penn State also looming one spot behind the Sooners.
Saturday night couldn’t have been much better for OU fans, as Notre Dame’s 48-20 demolition of USC dropped the Trojans eight spots to 18th in the latest AP Poll.
Texas moved up one spot, now ninth, ahead of Oregon, rounding out the Big 12’s representation in the AP Poll after Kansas lost in Stillwater on Saturday.
Up next, the Sooners return to Big 12 play against the UCF Knights at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
