Oklahoma got back on track in emphatic fashion on Saturday night.

The Sooners snapped their losing streak with an explosive 59-20 victory over the West Virginia Mountaineers, reigniting OU’s hopes of reaching the Big 12 Championship Game.

Brent Venables’ team moved to 8-2 overall, sitting at 5-2 in conference play, with the program’s first trip to Provo on the horizon.

The victory, paired with losses elsewhere across the country, saw the Sooners begin to climb back in the polls.

OU moved up three spots in the AP Poll this week, sitting as the No. 14 team in the country, as well as rising to No. 13 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

The next installment of the College Football Playoff Rankings won’t drop until Tuesday night, but Oklahoma’s efforts will be focused solely on the upcoming matchup with BYU.

In the Cougars’ last outing, BYU (5-5, 2-5) failed to offer little resistance to Iowa State, losing 45-13.

Saturday’s contest was announced as an 11 a.m. kickoff on either ABC or ESPN, a game that will start at 10 a.m. locally in Provo, as the Sooners look to keep hope of finishing the season playing for a Big 12 title in Arlington alive.
