Mitchell, a 6-foot-4, 245-pound tight end from Los Alamitos, CA, will choose between Alabama, OU, Texas, Texas, Texas A&M and Miami.
Mitchell is a 4-star prospect who ranks No. 1 in the nation by both Rivals and On3, and is ranked No. 2 nationally at the tight end position by 247 Sports, which also ranks him as the No. 1 overall prospect out of California.
All three recruiting media outlets project that Mitchell will eventually choose OU.
Oklahoma has also been widely projected to land 2025 prospect Nate Roberts, a 6-4, 225-pound tight end from Washington, OK, currently ranked by 247 Sports as the No. 2 overall player in the state. That recruitment could come down to OU and Notre Dame.
The Sooners have one 2025 verbal commitment so far: Rock Hill, TX, quarterback Kevin Sperry.
