Oklahoma’s incoming wide receiver class was just cut in half.

According to a Monday report from 247 Sports, citing unnamed sources, incoming freshman Keyon Brown will not be joining the Sooners this year, and will instead enroll at Garden City (KS) Community College.

OU Insider reported Monday night that Brown’s issue was related to academic eligibility.

The 6-foot-3, 188-pound Brown was a 247 Sports 3-star prospect coming out of James Rickards High School in Tallahassee, FL. ESPN rates Brown as a 4-star prospect.

His absence from the class leaves only speedster Jaquaize Pettaway, a high school All-American and 4-star prospect from Houston, as OU’s incoming wideouts this summer.

247 Sports also rates Brown as the No. 48 wide receiver in the nation after putting up more than 1,200 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior. Brown also ran track in high school.

Brown had offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Nebraska and Tennessee, among others.
