Second Oklahoma OL Declares for NFL Draft

The Sooners had a busy Saturday evening, with two starters from the past season declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft just moments apart.

On Saturday night, Oklahoma redshirt junior right tackle Tyler Guyton declared for the NFL Draft.

Guyton started nine games for the Sooners in 2023 and 14 games across his two years in Norman. The 6-foot-7, 328-pound offensive lineman spent two seasons at TCU before transferring to OU ahead of the 2022 season.

After suffering an injury, Guyton was replaced by Jacob Sexton, who finished out the 2023 regular season at right tackle for Oklahoma despite Guyton being available to play.

Guyton finished the year with a 63.6 offensive grade and a 71.9 pass blocking grade, according to PFF. The Manor, TX, product's combination of impressive athleticism and size has a chance to land Guyton in the first round of the upcoming NFL Draft.

Coming out of high school, Guyton was a 3-star defensive lineman with just two scholarship offers.

Guyton is the second Oklahoma player to formally announce his entrance into the draft, joining fellow o-lineman Andrew Raym

With Bill Bedenbaugh and company set to lose Raym, Guyton, Nate Anderson, Savion Byrd, Walter Rouse, McKade Mettauer and Caleb Shaffer heading into the 2024 season, the Sooners will need to make a few additions through the transfer portal.

Former Michigan State offensive lineman Spencer Brown announced earlier in the week that he will transfer to OU for his final year of eligibility, and Oklahoma will certainly be in contention for a few more lineman in the portal.
