Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon and Texas defensive lineman T'Vondre Sweat were also unanimous selections. Gordon was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Year while Sweat won the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year award.

Gabriel finished the 2023 regular season with 3,660 passing yards and 30 touchdowns through the air, adding 373 yards and 12 scores on the ground as well.
