Sooners in the NFL 2023: Week 13

Oklahoma's NFL stars made an impact in Week 13 of NFL action.

In Week 13 action, Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers got back in the win column. The former Oklahoma quarterback helped knock off the Carolina Panthers 21-18 on Sunday afternoon. The Bucs will square off against the division leading Atlanta Falcons next week Atlanta for the division crown. It’ll be one of the biggest games in Mayfield’s career since his Cleveland playoff days.

He wasn’t perfect on Sunday, but he found a way to get the job done. He threw for 202 yards, one touchdown and one interception on 14-of-29 passing and led two touchdown drives that were punched in.

Mayfield also found Mike Evans for a long touchdown strike down the field and 162 total yards. This season, he has helped Evans keep his streak of 1,000 yard seasons alive, as it now stands at 10 straight years.

The Bucs are now 5-7 with a solid chance to win the division and compete for a playoff berth. Mayfield has exceeded expectations and helped Tampa Bay find success on the field.

Outside of Mayfield, Cowboys stat Ceedee Lamb was the biggest performer on the field on Thursday night. His special season continued behind a 12-catch, 116 yard outing with a score. He added two rushes for 30 yards in the process, propelling Dallas to another victory.

On the season, Lamb has 1,182 yards and seven touchdowns through just 12 games. The former Oklahoma star is averaging 98.5 yards per game.

Jalen Hurts and the Eagles dropped a game for the second time this season, bringing the team’s record to 10-2. Hurts has still had an unbelievable season and recorded solid stats on Sunday. He finished with 298 passing yards and two total touchdowns, totaling zero turnovers.
