Sunday Offering: Oklahoma Offers Three, Including 2024 QB

In this story:
It was a busy week for the OU Football team.
With four members of the team and head coach Brent Venables in Arlington for Big 12 Media Days, much of the focus was on the Sooners' comments from AT&T Stadium. It was, however, a big week on the recruiting trail for Oklahoma as well.
The biggest win of the week for Venables and company was landing a commitment from 2024 4-star defensive lineman Jayden Jackson of IMG Academy (FL).

Listed at 6-foot-2 and 300 pounds, Jackson is rated one of the top 10 defensive lineman and top 190 players in the 2024 class according to Rivals.
Additionally, the talented defensive lineman is teammates with 5-star Oklahoma City native David Stone, who is believed to be an OU lean. Jackson chose the Sooners over Miami, Florida, Texas and Ohio State, among others.
Following Jackson's pledge, fellow 4-star defensive line target Nigel Smith II sent out an interesting Tweet, possibly signaling that he is currently favoring Oklahoma as well.

The Melissa (TX) standout told AllSooners that he plans to announce his commitment on Sept. 8. Allen (TX) 2024 edge rusher Zina Umeozulu responded to Smith's post with a Tweet that potentially indicates he is an OU lean as well.
Aside from Jackson's commitment, TA Cunningham, Isaiah Campbell, Taylor Tatum and Brayden Platt all cut down their list of schools and kept Oklahoma in the mix.
Cunningham released his top five on Thursday, with OU, Texas A&M, Michigan, Miami and Penn State remaining in the mix.

Listed at 6-foot-6 and 275 pounds, the 4-star defensive lineman from Miami Central (FL) is one of the top 120 players in the 2024 cycle according to ESPN.
Cunningham is set to announce his commitment on July 22.
Earlier in the week, 5-star running back Taylor Tatum announced his top two and commitment date. As expected, Tatum will choose between USC and Oklahoma on July 21.
The Longview (TX) native is reportedly favoring the Sooners’ due to their history of success with dual-sport athletes, as Tatum is hoping to play baseball and football in college. Tatum was in Norman for the ChampU BBQ, which seems to have helped change the star tailback’s mind.
Listed at 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds, Tatum is ranked the nation’s No. 1 running back according to 247Sports. If the Lobos’ standout does commit to OU, he would be the highest-rated commit in DeMarco Murray’s tenure in Norman.
Platt also announced his top two schools and commitment date this week, with Oregon and Oklahoma still in contention for the 2024 4-star linebacker from Yelm, WA. Per 247Sports, the impressive athlete is rated one of the top 75 players and top 10 linebackers in the country.
Listed at 6-foot-2 and 240 pounds, Platt competes in shot put, pole vault and the 100-meter dash, winning the state championship in shot put as a junior. Platt is set to make his decision on Sept. 4, with the Ducks currently expected to land the Washington native.
Campbell, a 2025 defensive lineman from Southern Durham High School (NC), announced his top 10 on Thursday.

The Sooners made the cut, alongside Alabama, Clemson, LSU, Notre Dame, Duke, Penn State, North Carolina, North Carolina State and Miami.
Campbell is the No. 80 overall prospect in the nation and one of the top 10 defensive lineman in the 2025 class according to On3. The Sooners' offered the 6-foot-5 defensive lineman on July 3.
Venables and company also extended three offers to high school recruits this week. Jones High School (FL) 2024 QB Trever Jackson, NFL Academy 2024 offensive lineman Daniel Akinkunmi and Lake Travis (TX) 2025 defensive lineman Gus Cordova all heard from the Sooners this week.
Jackson is a 4-star signal caller from Florida, ranked one of the top 10 QBs in the nation according to ESPN. The 6-foot-3 passer competed at the Elite 11 Finals in June, showcasing his impressive arm talent in front of a number of national scouts.
Jackson currently holds offers from Penn State, Texas A&M and Mississippi, among others.
Akinkunmi is a 6-foot-5, 320 pound versatile offensive lineman from London who attends the NFL Academy. Rated a 3-star recruit, the massive offensive lineman holds offers from Arkansas, Texas Tech and Mississippi, among others.
#AGTG After a great conversation with @OU_CoachB I’m blessed to receive a offer from @OU_Football @CoachVenables @ChadSimmons_ @adamgorney @justinwells2424 @SWiltfong247 @CraigHaubert @RustyMansell_ @EdOBrienCFB @AllenTrieu @247Hudson @Josh_Scoop @MikeRoach247 pic.twitter.com/nHcWp6Jx5c

Listed at 6-foot-5 and 260 pounds, Cordova, an Austin-area native, could blow up on the recruiting trail over the next year. Currently, the Cavaliers' standout holds offers from OU and Baylor after earning District Newcomer of the Year Honors as a sophomore last season.
If Lake Travis High School sounds familiar to Sooner fans, it is because this is the same high school that Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Baker Mayfield attended years ago.
