Jayda Coleman’s impressive weekend in Lawrence garnered national recognition.

Oklahoma’s star outfielder was named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA DI Player of the Week and the Big 12 Player of the Week for her explosive showing against Kansas.

In OU’s three-game sweep, Coleman reached base in 13 of her 14 plate appearances, launching three home runs. She drew seven walks and accounted for four RBIs.

She led the Big 12 in batting average (.857) over the weekend, and paced the entire country in both on-base percentage (.929) and slugging percentage (2.143).

Coleman earned Oklahoma’s fourth straight Big 12 Player of the Week honor, and four different players have taken home the award over that span. It also marked the second year in a row that OU has nabbed four consecutive Big 12 Player of the Week awards, a feat no other school in the conference has matched.

After the trip to Lawrence, Coleman leads the team with a .466 batting average on the season. In 2024 she’s scored 45 runs while driving in 27 RBIs of her own, including launching eight home runs. Still, Coleman sits fourth on the team in long balls, trailing Tiare Jennings (15), Alyssa Brito (14) and Cydney Sanders (11).

Coleman has now secured four Big 12 Player of the Week honors throughout her illustrious career with the Sooners.

Oklahoma will be out on the road again this weekend for one of the biggest series of the year.

The top-ranked Sooners (34-1, 12-0 Big 12) head to Austin to meet the No. 4-ranked Texas Longhorns (29-5, 9-3).

Texas dropped two of three games in Stillwater last weekend to Oklahoma State, and are looking to snap its streak of dropping 11-straight series to the Sooners.

Game 1 between the SEC-bound rivals will start at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and the game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
