Local 4-star WR Decommits from Oklahoma

The Sooners' lost one of the top players in their 2025 recruiting class on Wednesday evening.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday night, former Oklahoma pledge Jaden Nickens announced that he has decommitted from OU.

Nickens originally announced his commitment to Emmett Jones and company in August, joining fellow 4-star wideouts Elijah Thomas and Gracen Harris in the Sooners' 2025 recruiting class.

Rated the No. 106 overall player and No. 9 wide receiver in the upcoming cycle, Nickens is a huge loss for Oklahoma, as the athletic playmaker helped give Brent Venables and company one of the top six recruiting classes in the country.

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, Nickens is a two-sport star who excels in both football and basketball, receiving numerous Division I offers in both sports. After leading Millwood (OK) to a state title berth in football last season, the Oklahoma City product transferred to Douglass (OK), where he helped the Trojans to a state championship on the hardwood.

"This decommitment is all about me and my dreams," Nickens said in a post on social media. The two-sport standout also added that his, "recruitment is %1000 back open!! For both sports."

With Nickens no longer in the Sooners' 2025 recruiting class, OU now has nine players committed in the upcoming cycle. Jones and company are in the mix for a handful of talented 2025 wide receivers, but still took a huge blow losing the local talent.

Cooper Perry and Emmanuel Choice, two 4-star wide receiver prospects in the 2025 class, are both set to take official visits to Norman in late June, and could serve as Nickens' replacements if either of the coveted recruits ends up at Oklahoma.
