Oklahoma Adjusts Start Time of Friday's Contest Against Kentucky

Due to the threat of inclement weather, the start time of Friday's SEC contest with the Wildcats at Love's Field was moved up earlier in the day.

Oklahoma shifted the schedule for this weekend’s series against Kentucky on Wednesday afternoon.

Friday’s contest, which was originally scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. at Love’s Field, will now start at 1 p.m.

The threat of inclement weather prompted the change. 

All of the tickets that were originally distributed for Friday’s game will still be valid for entry, OU announced. 

“Fans that can no longer attend due to this schedule change must reach out to the original point of purchase for a refund or solution,” the press release said. 

The other two contests will start as originally scheduled. 

Updated Weekend Schedule for Oklahoma vs. Kentucky

  • Game 1: Thursday, 6:30 p.m., Love's Field
  • Game 2: Friday, 1 p.m., Love's Field
  • Game 3: Saturday, 11 a.m., Love's Field

Oklahoma also announced that there will be 100 free hot dogs for the first 100 fans through the gates at Love’s Field for Friday’s game. 

The series against the Wildcats is the second home series in conference play for the No. 3 Sooners. 

Oklahoma (35-3) is 8-1 in SEC contests following this past weekend, where OU won two of three in Baton Rouge against LSU. 

Associate head coach and pitching coach Jennifer Rocha returned to the dugout this past weekend, and OU head coach Patty Gasso was thrilled by the return of her longtime assistant. 

Rocha received a warm ovation in the third inning on Tuesday night when she visited Sydney Berzon in the circle in the third inning of a contest against Wichita State at Love's Field.

The Wildcats enter the weekend 22-16 on the year and 1-11 in SEC play. 

Kentucky has been swept by No. 5 Florida, No. 15 Georgia and No. 16 Texas A&M, and the Wildcats dropped two of three to Auburn.

OU freshman star Kendall Wells can chase more history this weekend at Love’s Field. 

Her home run against Wichita State on Tuesday was the 27th of the season for the phenom, which set the SEC single-season record. 

The home run record for a freshman sits at 30, a mark that former Sooners Lauren Chamberlain and Jocelyn Alo both hit. 

Alo also holds the program record with 34 home runs in a single season. 

Former Arizona Wildcat Laura Espinoza holds the NCAA single-season record for home runs. 

She blasted 37 long balls in 72 games during the 1995 season.
