OU Softball: Oklahoma Dominates All-Big 12 Teams

Oklahoma dominated the All-Big 12 Teams, the conference revealed on Wednesday.

The top-ranked Sooners, who enter postseason play 49-1 overall and 18-0 in Big 12 play, paced the league in first team selections.

Seven OU players, Jordy Bahl, Jayda Coleman, Tiare Jennings, Kinzie Hansen, Haley Lee, and Nicole May, Lyons all earned first team honors.

Senior right-hander Alex Storako won All-Big 12 Second Team honors.

Third baseman Alyssa Brito was a notable omission from the first and second teams. She slotted straight back into the infield this season after playing mostly left field in 2022, settling in as a steady presence at third base. Her power has continued to be a difference maker for Oklahoma as well, as she’s also blasted 13 home runs while batting .401 with 47 RBIs.

Bahl, Coleman and Jennings were all also named into the top 10 for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, as they’ve paced a dominant season from the Sooners.

Coleman leads Oklahoma in batting average (.439), is tied for the team lead in home runs (13), on-base percentage (.566) and slugging percentage (.820).

Jennings is right behind Coleman in a number of categories, batting .430 on the year with 12 home runs, but the star second baseman leads OU with 52 RBIs.

Bahl paces the Sooners in strikeouts, fanning 138 batters and only allowing 32 walks with a 1.19 ERA in 105 2/3 innings of work.

Behind the plate, Hansen’s power returned in a resurgent year as the talented catcher stayed healthy in 2023.

She’s blasted 10 home runs, driving in 43 RBIs in 37 starts this year.

Texas A&M transfer Haley Lee settled straight into the lineup as well, hitting 12 home runs and batting .362 while totaling 43 RBIs.

Already the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, Lyons also was steady in her super senior season in Norman, batting .351 with six home runs and 26 RBIs.

Despite ranking fourth in the country with a .77 ERA, Storako was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team.

The Michigan transfer pitched 90 2/3 innings, striking out 101 batters while only issuing 13 walks and posting a perfect 16-0 record.

Oklahoma will look to keep its winning streak rolling this weekend at the Big 12 Tournament before defending its back-to-back national titles in the NCAA Tournament.
