STILLWATER -- As the Oklahoma State Twitter account wrote, another day, another accolade for Cade Cunningham. The Big 12 has announced the preseason awards and teams and Cowboy freshman Cade Cunningham has been named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year.

Cunningham was also tabbed a Preseason All-Big 12 selection by the league's coaches. He's the 13th Cowboy in program history to earn a spot on the five-member Preseason All-Big 12 team and the first since Jeffrey Carroll earned a spot in 2017-18.

On Monday, Cunningham was also tabbed a Preseason All-American by CBS Sports.

Along with Cunningham, the Big 12 tabbed Baylor's Jared Butler as the Preseason Player of the Year and Texas Tech's Marcus Santos-Silva as the Preseason Newcomer of the Year.

Cunningham was the 2020 Naismith High School Player of the Year, a McDonald’s and Jordan Brand All-American and named the nation’s top recruit, among many other honors. He led Montverde Academy to a unanimous No. 1 ranking and a 25-0 record last season with wins over seven ranked opponents. Despite playing just 22 minutes a game, the point guard averaged 13.9 points, 6.4 assists and 4.2 rebounds. Cunningham is the fourth Cowboy to be selected as preseason freshman of the year.-Big 12 Conference

Oklahoma State kicks off the 2020-21 season on Nov. 25 in the 2020 Golden Window tournament taking play in Lincoln, NE. Game details and the other teams have yet to be announced, but the tournament takes place from Nov. 25-28.

Big 12 play for the Cowboys kicks off on Dec. 16 in Stillwater against TCU. Both Bedlam games will be played on Saturday's this season, with the Sooners coming to Stillwater and Gallagher-Iba Arena on Jan. 16 and the Pokes traveling to Norman a little more than a month later on Feb. 27 to wrap up the regular season.

Those two games will be the 248th and 249th installments of the Bedlam series.

A quick look at the scheduled shows three Big Monday showdowns, West Virginia in Stillwater on Jan. 4 and a pair of road games, at Iowa State on Jan. 25 and at Kansas on Feb. 8.

Oklahoma State will play host to the Kansas Jayhawks on Tuesday, Jan. 12. The Cowboys will be looking for the ninth win over KU since 2008 and their fifth win in the last eight games against KU at home.
