It’s not often that a Top 10 college basketball recruit takes nine visits in two months to make his commitment decision. But that’s what Moussa Kamissoko is doing.

Earlier this week, Rivals (subscription required) reported that Kamissoko had set nine official visits as he prepares to make a commitment decision that could come as early as November during the early-signing period.

It’s a travel schedule that is not for the faint of heart. He’ll be on a college campus nearly every weekend starting Aug. 28-30 at Florida State.

The good news? Oklahoma State made the cut. He’ll visit Stillwater Sept. 12-13, which will be a huge weekend for football because the Cowboys will be hosting No. 2 Oregon.

This makes it a huge weekend for Steve Lutz and his staff, too.

This is a Top 20 player the Cowboys are vying for. He’s ranked No. 17 in the Rivals Industry Rankings and is considered the No. 6 shooting guard in the country. The 6-8 rising senior from Long Island Lutheran in New York will be a gamechanger for whichever program lands him.

The competition is significant. Along with FSU and OSU, he’ll take official visits to Syracuse, Virginia, BYU, Illinois, UConn, Louisville and Baylor. The Bears get him last from Oct. 16-18. The early signing period begins just a few weeks later.

It would be a massive get for Lutz and the Cowboys. He wrapped up play at the NBPA Top 100 Camp in June averaging 15.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. He has the kind of skill set that compares favorably to the top prospects the Cowboys landed six years ago — Cade Cunningham. He only played one season with the Cowboys but ended up as the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft after he left Stillwater.

No one is saying Kamissoko is that kind of player. But he has the skill set and his blend of scoring and passing makes him a player that could make an impact immediately for the Cowboys — if he commits.

He would also boost the current recruiting class, which has just one player so far. Guard Tyson Pogi, who is 6-foot and plays for Southmoore High School in Moore, Okla., committed earlier this summer. His father played football at OSU. He’s considered a Top 150 player nationally and 247Sports (subscription required) has him graded as a four-star player.

It will be a tough get for Lutz and the Cowboys. The competition is significant and includes two other Big 12 teams and UConn, which has two recent national titles. But if Oklahoma State can land him, their fortunes improve dramatically for the 2027-28 season.
