'Super Impressive!' Andrew Fischer Gives Health Update, Praises Rebels Offense Following Weekend Sweep

Ole Miss Rebels infielder Andrew Fischer believes his team has found an offensive groove in a key point of the season.

The Ole Miss Rebels offense has experienced a revival over the last couple of weeks, and a large credit for that boost comes from infielder Andrew Fischer.

Fischer, a transfer from the Duke Blue Devils this offseason, is now hitting .304 at the plate with six home runs and 18 RBIs. He suffered a bit of a scare last weekend against the Iowa Hawkeyes when an errant pitch hit him in the helmet, but his ear appears to be doing okay in the recovery process.

At the very least, it's not slowing him down on the field after another strong series this weekend.

"Ear is doing alright," Fischer said Sunday after a 6-5 win over Morehead State. "Obviously not really affecting me much out on the field. A little discomfort here and there, but nothing enough to take me out of the game."

Although Fischer has seemingly found his groove offensively here in non-conference play, he is not taking the credit for the team's turnaround at the plate. Instead, he's hyping up another key bat in the lineup: Ethan Lege.

"It's super impressive, just watching guys on our team put together good at-bats," Fischer said. "Ethan Lege is smokin' hot right now. Having guys in your order like that is big-time for a team."

This week, things get real for Ole Miss. The Rebels have been up-and-down in the non-conference slate, but they will open SEC play at home against the South Carolina Gamecocks this weekend to begin a stretch of games that will define their season.

Added pressure aside, Fischer believes that Ole Miss is getting hot at the right time.

"I think our confidence is pretty high right now, as it should be," Fischer said. "We've won a couple of games in a row against some solid teams, so no doubt in my mind that we're going to give any team in the SEC a run for their money."

The Rebels will travel to face the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks on Tuesday night before returning home to open their series against South Carolina on Friday. First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on ESPN+.
