Watch: Former Ole Miss Legend Tim Elko Goes Yard in First Spring Training At-Bat

Tim Elko got a statue on Thursday and topped it off with a bomb in the White Sox Spring Training Game on Friday.

The White Sox organization seems to like what they have seen from Tim Elko as he got the nod to handle the designated hitting duties in the team's Cactus League opener.

Elko worked the count before battling off two 3-2 pitches, and on the next pitch, Elko hammered it to right to get the White Sox on the board. You can view the video of the play below, courtesy of Ole Miss Baseball on X.

Tim Elko

With the White Sox losing 101 games last season, it isn't far-fetched to think that Elko could get the call-up this season if he continues to hit balls hard.

Elko was an integral part of the Rebels' national championship run in 2022, and his efforts during his career in Oxford earned him captain status and a related nickname: The Captain.

For his Rebels career, Elko posted a batting average of .294 with a .985 OPS. His 46 career home runs rank second all-time in program history. His 159 RBIs rank eighth.
