Dan Lanning Provides Injury Update on Oregon Linebacker Brayden Platt

The Oregon Ducks wrapped up their sixth day of fall camp on Tuesday. Oregon coach Dan Lanning, who is set to enter his fifth season in Eugene, provided unfortunate injury news on Ducks linebacker Brayden Platt.

“He’s going to be limited for a while with the injury that he felt in the spring. I don’t want to put a timeline on it, but he’s going to be out for some time until we see where he’s at and continue to progress and challenge himself,” Lanning said.

Brayden Platt’s Career So Far For Ducks

Platt is set to enter his sophomore season with the Ducks after a freshman year in which he totaled three tackles in a span of two games against the Indiana Hoosiers and the Minnesota Golden Gophers, both home matchups for Oregon.

Platt is a 6-2, 235-pound linebacker from Yelm, Washington, who is a former four-star recruit from the 2024 recruiting class. As a recruit, Platt was rated as a No. 178 overall player and No. 14 linebacker in the 2024 recruiting class, per 247Sports.

Following the departure of Bryce Boettcher, who was selected in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft at No. 135 overall by the Indianapolis Colts, new leaders will emerge in the Ducks linebacker room. A few of those leaders include a duo of senior linebackers, Devon Jackson and Jerry Mixon, both of whom are looking to take a step forward following impressive 2025 seasons for the Ducks.

With Platt’s injury and he’s timetable to return for the Ducks uncertain at the moment, according to Lanning, it allows these three players to have even more of an impact at the linebacker position for the Ducks.

Platt was a player entering this season who was looking to have a breakout sophomore year for the Ducks' defense, but with his future status uncertain, that may not come to fruition.

Sophomore linebacker Nasir Wyatt is another player to watch in the Ducks' linebacker room as a leader, as he’s aiming to become an every-down player, something he’s been working towards throughout the offseason and in fall camp.

In his freshman season with the Ducks, Wyatt totaled 11 tackles, three sacks, and one forced fumble. Expect Wyatt to take a major step forward for the Ducks' defense this season.

The Ducks are scheduled to open the 2026 season on Sept. 5 at Autzen Stadium against the Boise State Broncos. The kickoff between the Ducks and Broncos is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. PT, with the game broadcast on CBS.

In their season opener, the Ducks are comfortable favorites to beat the Broncos, who make their debut in Oregon’s old conference, the Pac-12. According to the latest betting odds by DraftKings Sportsbook, the Ducks are 24.5-point favorites over the Broncos. The over/under line for the Ducks' season opener is set at 52.5 points.
