Former Oregon left tackle Tyrell Crosby was forced into action this past week due to an injury and under-performance by Lions’ 2016 first-round pick Taylor Decker. Crosby was immediately thrown into the fire and tasked with impeding one of the most imposing pass rush duos in the National Football League: Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram.

Crosby’s stat line from Sunday’s game? 2 pressures, 0 quarterback hits, and 0 sacks allowed.

These accolades are nothing new for Crosby. After establishing himself as a starter in his sophomore year at the University of Oregon, his junior campaign was unfortunately derailed by injury. Crosby returned for his senior year and did not allow a single sack or hit on his quarterback for the entire 2017 season, securing the Morris trophy in the process (awarded to the Pac-12’s best offensive lineman).

Despite having the pedigree and the physical attributes of a high draft pick (6’5”, 309 lbs.), Crosby fell to the 153rd pick in the 5th round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Nevertheless, Crosby’s performance on Sunday and his ability to succeed at both tackle positions suggest that he may be able to carve out a productive NFL career. Crosby is the harbinger of things to come for the Oregon Ducks as many members of the current offensive line project to have productive careers on Sundays.
