Five Questions With a Buffs Writer Ahead of No. 10 Oregon Ducks vs. No. 19 Colorado Buffaloes

In this story:

We're just about 24 hours away from No. 10 Oregon (3-0) vs. No. 19 Colorado (3-0) kicking off in Eugene.

The Ducks will be wearing color-changing cleats, the atmosphere is going to be great, and everyone knows that Autzen Stadium is the place to be on Saturday.

With conference play getting underway, it's a perfect time to take advantage of the Fan Nation network, with Josh Tolle of BuffsBeat.

I asked him five questions ahead of tomorrow's game between Dan Lanning and Deion Sanders' squads.

1. What's the mood of the fanbase in Boulder heading into this game?

The Buffaloes are riding a high nobody outside of Boulder figured they would. Also, It's hard to determine a fanbase when a majority of the nation is watching all of this play out in realtime and they're rooting for Deion Sanders to have an unprecedented turnaround or fail. But overall, the faithful CU fans are optimistic the Pac-12 schedule will be another hit.

2. What makes Deion Sanders a good coach in your eyes?

It's like how Nick Saban broke it down this week. Sanders has always been successful at every level of coaching. The same people who said he couldn't move from the FCS to FBS were wrong. He's a player's coach in every sense of the word. Sanders builds his kids up to be good at life. He knows the NFL has an average three-year window and it's rare to reach the All-Pro level. He's helping his team understand the ways of the world more than any other college coach out there.

3. What do you think of Deion's approach overhauling his roster by aggressively using the transfer portal? Is it a sustainable model for success?

The overhaul needed to happen. Karl Dorrell's system was broken and when you bring in a Hall-of-Fame talent like Deion, he's not going to let grass grow under his feet. It was aggressive and he told kids that some of them would be elsewhere this season. Unfortunately, that's life. He gave them the opportunity to fight for a position. Trevor Woods and Michael Harrison were two of the nine players who did. They heard the famed "Louis Luggage" speech and came out swinging. It is a model that can work in some situations. Deion had many connections to bring in a talented roster. I don't think players would be flocking anywhere else to play for another coach

4. Aside from Deion being the head coach, what makes this Colorado team special?

This team is a "Band of Brother" and fights for each other. They're dialed into everything that Deion and his staff are implementing. It's amazing to watch.

5. What would a win over Oregon mean for Colorado?

It would mean the naysayers will be a little more silent. Colorado is built for the stage of Autzen Stadium and this will be a must-watch matchup. If they were to get a win, it would also mean Deion is about to be more comfortable in the Pac-12 projections.
