In this story:

The No. 9 Oregon Ducks are looking for a win at home in week 8 after falling to the Washington Huskies 36-33 for the second straight year.

When Dan Lanning and the Ducks return to Autzen Stadium they'll welcome Jake Dickert and the Washington State Cougars, who are have lost two straight games, with the latest being a 44-6 loss at home in Pullman to the Arizona Wildcats.

The Cougars typically aren't one of the top tier teams in the Pac-12, but they're a team that can give anyone a scare on a weekly basis. Just last year the Ducks got all they could from handle from WSU in a 44-41 win on the road, a game that was sealed by a Mase Funa pick six of quarterback Cameron Ward.

Through six games in 2023 Washington State is averaging 34.33 points per game and 430.8 yards of total offense. For a team with a solid offense led by a veteran quarterback, the defense has been another story.

The Cougars' defense is giving up 28.5 points per game and 147.2 rushing yards per game to go along with 272.5 passing yards per game.

Even though both teams are coming off of losses, the Ducks look like they have the clear advantage on paper.
