It's always a benefit for a team to have a clean bill of health and fortunately for the Oregon Ducks, they've been pretty healthy the past couple of weeks.

But last week they saw one of their top defenders suffer an injury, as sophomore cornerback Jahlil Florence exited the Washington game after getting banged up with what appeared to be an arm injury in the third quarter.

According to Dan Lanning, one of Oregon's starting cornerbacks was able to return to action on Monday.

"Jahlil practiced today. Looks like he'll be fine," the head coach said during his weekly press conference.

Florence has made a big impact on Oregon's defense this year. He's recorded one interception, two pass breakups, while also adding eight total tackles through six games.

He's solidified himself as one of the Ducks' top two cornerbacks opposite Alabama transfer Khyree Jackson, who also went down with an injury against the Huskies before returning to finish out the game.

Having to deal with multiple injuries at the cornerback spot on Saturday, Oregon was able to deploy a trio of experienced backups as they tired to slow down Washington's explosive wide receivers.

Lanning and the rest of the defensive staff turned to a combination of Trikweze Bridges, Nikko Reed and Dontae Manning in their search for answers. Cornerback depth is the strongest it's been in years for Oregon, and Lanning has preached the importance of being ready for any role the team needs filled.

"I think that's where it gives you an opportunity to be able to be successful in games," he said. "When you talk about strength in numbers. You never know where your role is going to exist, how it's going to exist and how much roles change.

The Oregon head coach also conveyed that things are fluid on his roster and he doesn't want anyone to get comfortable with where they are.

"It's never comfortable. Competition exists every day. So when guys come in and perform, they perform at a high level, they get more opportunities. That's how it works. And it's good to have guys that have been able to come off in roles like that this year and play at a high level."

Oregon's cornerback room should be at full strength when the Ducks face the Washington State Cougars this weekend.
