In this story:

The Oregon Ducks' coaching job was ranked among all of the best coaching jobs in college football, and they landed in the No. 9 spot. The Ducks fall behind the Alabama Crimson Tide, Ohio State Buckeyes, Texas Longhorns, LSU Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Michigan Wolverines, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and the Florida Gators, while being ranked just one spot ahead of the USC Trojans, according to a post by FanDuel.

It can be argued that the Ducks' job is even better than the ranking shows, as a job that is both desirable for the present and the future.

As for the 2026 college football season, the Ducks have arguably the best roster in college football, thanks to the veteran stars that they have returning to the team, especially on the defensive side of the ball. The Ducks will be returning each of their pass-rushing stars from a season ago, as fans will yet again see the duo of EDGE Teitum Tuioti and EDGE Matayo Uiagalelei rushing the quarterback.

Both of these stars have shown time and time again that they can finish plays in the backfield, including a season ago, as the duo combined for 15.5 sacks and were both at the top of the sack leaderboard among defenders inside the Oregon program. Tuioti was the player with the bigger statistical pull, as he finished with 9.5 sacks, while Uiagalelei finished with six sacks himself.

The Ducks will also have great interior stuffing, as the Ducks are returning veteran interior defensive lineman Bear Alexander and interior defensive lineman A'Mauri Washington. Washington and Alexander have both put in the work this offseason, and both could be on the cusp of a breakout season, which is exactly what this defense needs if it wants to make a run at a national championship.

The Ducks will also be returning some offensive veterans, such as their quarterback Dante Moore, who has already been tabbed as a top-five selection in the 2027 NFL Draft before even playing a snap of college football in the 2026 season. He will also be paired with a familiar tight end in Jamari Johnson, who could be just as impactful as former Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq was in the receiving game now that he is taking on the starter role with this program.

Arguably the biggest addition that the Ducks will make to their offense is the return of wide receiver Evan Stewart, who missed the entire 2025 college football season after he tore his patellar tendon in his knee. He is back healthy and is expected to be a full go come week one, as he even participated with the Ducks throughout spring camp and is expected to make even more strides throughout fall camp.

How Recruiting Plays a Factor

As for the future, it is known that the Ducks can recruit against the best colleges in the country. While the Ducks have done a great job when it comes to building relationships through coaches, the Ducks also have some helpful resources, such as being the front-page program of the Nike apparel brand. It is only helpful to have a powerhouse like that to help with recruiting, along with having the consistent release of new jerseys that recruits love to sport on their official visits.

It is also safe to say that anytime the Ducks get a recruit to campus, they have a fighting chance, with the scenery of the Eugene campus, plus many would consider the opportunity to play inside Autzen Stadium a dream come true.
