Indiana OL Matthew Bedford Flips Transfer Commitment From Colorado to Oregon

Oregon snags one of the most experienced offensive linemen from the portal to help protect quarterback Dillon Gabriel in 2024.

The Ducks continue to heat up in the transfer portal.

On Monday, Dan Lanning flipped landed another big pledge as Indiana offensive lineman Matthew Bedford, who had been committed to Colorado, flipped his commitment to the Oregon Ducks.

He was one of three transfer commitments the Ducks secured on Monday.

The former Indiana offensive lineman previously said he was going to transfer to Colorado, but surprisingly left the O-line that Deion Sanders was building through the portal to head to Eugene instead.

“I want to express my deepest gratitude to the University of Colorado and their amazing coach, coaching staff, and community for their support and belief in me,” Bedford said in a message over social media. “However, upon reflection, I believe that the University of Oregon aligns perfectly with my long-term goals and I am thrilled to join the Oregon Ducks and contribute my best on and off the football field.”

There may be a rivalry brewing between Lanning and Deion "Prime Time" Sanders with this commitment flip, as the Buffs recently hosted 2024 Oregon offensive line commit Jac'Qawn McRoy for a visit in Boulder.

It’s also known that Sanders has been wanting to beef up his O-line as Colorado allowed 4.7 sacks per game this season, which hindered an offense led by quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

Bedford started 39 of his 41 games at Indiana and will likely fill a need for Oregon with the departure of Steven Jones at right guard.

The 6-foot-6, 305-pound offensive lineman started on both sides of the offensive line during his five years at Indiana. He has one more year of eligibility remaining, and joining Oregon’s offensive line could boost his draft stock during the upcoming season.

Bedford joins quarterback Dillon Gabriel, quarterback Dante Moore and running back Jay Harris in Oregon’s acquisitions in the transfer portal ahead of the early signing period, which begins on Wednesday.
