We all know that recruiting never stops.

A few Oregon coaches, specifically wide receivers coach Junior Adams and special teams coordinator Joe Lorig were on the road Friday night doing some recruiting and their stop may have surprised fans.

Last night they stopped in Idaho to visit 2024 Burley (Id.) Senior wide receiver Gatlin Bair.

Bair is rated a four-star (0.9787) recruit on the 247Sports Composite and he shocked the country when he committed to Andy Avalos and the Boise State Broncos in August. He chose Boise State from a top five that included Oregon, Nebraska, Michigan and TCU.

He's clearly a talented wide receiver, but what everyone knows him for is his speed. Bair is the fastest player in the country and runs a blazing 10.15 in the 100 meters. He's even beaten Oregon freshman defensive back Rodrick Pleasant, a California state record holder, in a head-to-head race.

You can't teach speed, and that's what's made Bair such a highly-coveted athlete from coast to coast.

What makes Friday's visit interesting?

Not only is Bair already committed to Boise State, making him a flip candidate, but he won't actually be playing his college football for a couple of years.

Upon graduating from Burley Senior in December he's supposed to start a mission with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. That means he's not scheduled to begin his college football career until the 2026 season.

Oregon has three wide receiver commitments in the 2024 recruiting class in Jordan Anderson, Jack Ressler and Dillon Gresham, who's visiting Eugene this weekend.

The coaching staff has made it clear that they want at least one more wide receiver this cycle, and they're doing what they can to flip All-American pass catcher Jeremiah McClellan, a St. Louis product committed to Ohio State. McClellan was on campus for the Oregon vs. Colorado game, which showed that he's still open to being a Duck.

I was told by a source close to the Oregon program this week that the Ducks are going to be circling back on recruits they missed on the first time around, and that appears to be the case now with Bair.

Nothing's final until the ink dries on a national letter of intent, and with just under two months until the early signing period Oregon won't leave any stone unturned.
