It's been a busy contact period for 2025 Hesperia (Calif.) Oak Hills running back Carson Kox. Last week he was visited by Arizona State, San Diego State, USC and Oregon, just to name a few.

The 6-foot, 205-pound back had a great visit with Oregon's Carlos Locklyn.

"It was great. We had a great conversation," Cox said. "He met my mother, my mother wasn't able to meet him face to face when I went out there because she didn't travel with us. We started talking about where I would fit and how Oregon is and then just the culture and then loyalty, as Coach Dan Lanning, he's a great guy."

One thing in particular that stands out to Locklyn about the Southern California back is his versatility.

"He likes just how I was a balanced running back and I was able to do everything. And if you watch my film, it explains everything that he was talking about."

Cox continues to have high interest in the Ducks and loves the direction of the Oregon program.

"One thing I really enjoyed recently was the video Dan Lanning came out with to show that he was staying," the running back said. "Staying loyal. And he understands the potential Oregon has as a roster and what he could build, a national championship team.

"Also Coach Lock showing his development and showing me the guys he developed throughout the years and then just the relationship and talking to other guys that got recruited by Coach Lock and them explaining that Coach Lock is such a great guy. He always wants to make sure he has you for life. So he's just a great guy and it's starting to feel like family."

He checked out USC over the weekend after landing an offer from the Trojans earlier this month.

"I had a great relationship with the running back coach (Keil McDonald) before when he was at Utah. He was just very patient with the offer because USC doesn't really offer California running backs like that because they recruit just nationally."

Cox is working on setting his visit schedule for the spring and will likely return to Eugene.

"For the spring I plan to visit Arizona State as well as Oregon. That's all I have planned for right now."

"In March I might make it out to Utah. See how it's like in Utah and then just explore as many options as I have open."

A top schools list could be coming out soon and he has a timeline in mind for a commitment.

"My decision timeline would be after the summer," he said. "Maybe the second week of August around there. That's when I will announce my commitment, around August."

Karson Cox off the field

"Karson Cox is just a very humble down to earth guy. He is a genuine person and loves nature. He loves views. He loves sights. He loves working out and seeing just development throughout people of life and how beautiful life is."
