Many of the top signal callers in the 2024 class are already off the board.

In fact, eight of the top ten ranked quarterbacks in the 247Sports Composite rankings have announced verbal commitments. The Ducks are still in the running for the No. 7 quarterback Elijah Brown out of Mater Dei, but seem to be fading for the consensus top passer Dylan Raiola. Ducks Digest is working to confirm whether or not he will visit Oregon for the spring game.

Over the weekend thought, one of Oregon's top targets in the 2024 class, Michael Van Buren (No. 11 QB on 247Sports Composite) from Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy, made the cross-country trip to Eugene for an unofficial visit.

This was an interesting trip not only because he's from a national powerhouse program, but also because the Ducks are trending for Phoenix (Ariz.) Sunnyslope quarterback Luke Moga ahead of his commitment on April 28. Timing plays a big factor in recruiting and it could be playing into Oregon's favor with a big run on the recruiting trail expected this spring.

This past weekend's trip was Van Buren's second of the year after he was on campus in January. Following the trip the talented quarterback teased news that will come out on Friday.

Van Buren is currently working from a top eight that consists of schools like Oregon, Penn State, Miami and Maryland among others. That group was released in December and he's taken numerous trips in the time since to Oregon, Penn State and Maryland.

He's set to commit on July 8 and Penn State looks to be the leader, but maybe his last trip to Eugene helped give the Ducks a boost as they look to turn the heat up a notch in the 2024 recruiting class.
