The Latest With Oregon and Top-100 Tight End Linkon Cure

In this story:
Top talent has been coming to Eugene throughout the season and 2025 Goodland (KS) tight end Linkon Cure took his first visit to Oregon for the USC game.
The 6-foot-6, 220-pound tight end took some time to break down the trip and the latest in his recruitment with Ducks Digest.
He wanted to get out to Eugene in part because he's been a fan for as long as he can remember.
"I've been a lifelong fan throughout my childhood," he said. "I was a big-time fan, watching DeAnthony Thomas and Marcus Mariota. So that's kind of how I fell in love with Oregon. Every Christmas I'd ask for a jersey or I'd ask for a helmet or something.
"So when I got that offer that was that was really special to me. And I knew I had to get up there, just knowing the facilities, knowing the program, knowing the culture and everything."
His first ever trip to Eugene was a massive success.
"The whole trip was a lot of fun. Really, just every part of it. I really enjoyed it. We started off, kind of got a facility tour. Throughout the tour I had a meeting with Coach [Drew] Mehringer," he said. "The whole trip was a lot of fun, always kind of had something to do. It was never boring. It was awesome."
Cure's Oregon recruitment is off to a strong start thanks to relationships he's built with Mehringer as well as head coach Dan Lanning.
"Really, really good relationships," Cure said. "So we relate to each other a lot. Coach Mehringer, I believe he said he grew up on a farm, something like that and he grew up in Texas. And then Coach Lanning, he also grew up on a farm in Kansas City. So we related our personalities, we related a lot to each other and our background."
The four-star tight end doesn't live on a farm, but he's no stranger to giving his dad a hand when he needs it.
"Usually my dad will just wake me up in the morning on some Saturday and I'll just go out there and do whatever he tells me and that can just be anything. But usually, I'll go out for wheat harvest in the summer and I'll run grain card a little bit of combine and I'll open traps a little bit. So I'm kind of kind of the utility guy. I do everything."
Following his time in Eugene for the USC game, one thing is standing out the most about Oregon.
"Definitely just the people. The coaching staff and the staff members," Cure said. "We just really got along and you can tell they just have great relationships with each other. It's like a family and that's always the feeling you want is a family culture. So that definitely stuck out to me and that's a place I want to be around."
Aside from Oregon, there are plenty of schools recruiting him hard.
"Definitely local schools like K State (Kansas State), KU (Kansas), Nebraska, Oklahoma, Penn State's on me a lot and Notre Dame--probably the most on me."
He doesn't have any future visits planned, but did mention wanting to get back to Eugene following a fall that's been full of trips.
"It started off with K State week 1, and then the Penn State whiteout and then Nebraska and then I think Notre Dame and Auburn and then KU and then Oregon."
The coveted tight end is prioritizing a family feel and gave his thoughts on a decision timeline.
"Not really sure,"he said. "Ideally, I'd like to kind of sooner because that official visit stuff, it can get a little crazy sometimes. Kind of got to be around home. I can't be gone every weekend for stuff like that. So, ideally, I'd like to do it sooner. But you never know."
