What's Next for Oregon at Wide Receiver in 2024?

What's next after the Ducks landed a commitment from Dillon Gresham on Monday.

Oregon continues to heat up after landing their third wide receiver commit in the 2024 class in San Jacinto (Calif.) pass catcher Dillon Gresham.

Now the room is starting to get a little bit crowded, so it feels like the perfect time to check in on some of the top receivers the Ducks have been recruiting this cycle.

Jeremiah McClellan (St. Louis, MO)

McClellan is probably at or near the top of Oregon's big board at this point as far as receivers go. He was recently on campus in Eugene for the spring and the Ducks have seen him in Missouri this spring during the evaluation period.

I expect him to get the full-court press from the coaching staff and he's already reportedly locked in his official visit for June 23, which is shaping up to be the main weekend the top targets will be on campus next month. He released a top 12 with Oregon in the mix last month and I continue to like where the Ducks stand.

Ideally the staff would probably want him to wrap his recruitment up before the season starts. Junior Adams has been an elite recruiter since joining Dan Lanning's staff and will find himself going against some of the biggest names in the sport.

Ryan Pellum (Long Beach, CA)

Another big name at wide receiver, Pellum has the Ducks in his top 10. The Ducks have stayed involved in this recruitment and he's got family ties to the program, which will no doubt help.

Like McClellan, Pellum has locked in his official visit to Oregon for June 23. He also has an official scheduled with USC the week prior, and my feel is that the Trojans have the edge at the moment.

LSU is a school I wouldn't be surprised to see turn up the heat because he has some family in the Boot. Pellum is really talented, and I expect Oregon to be in the mix all the way until he makes his final decision.

Jack Ressler (Santa Ana, CA)

Ressler is an Under Armour All-American wideout that has Oregon in his top five schools along with Oregon State, Boise State, Penn State and Arizona State.

He's taken several visits to Eugene of late and also has a friendship with 2023 Oregon wide receiver signee Jurrion Dickey. It sounds like he has high interest in the Ducks and reports indicate that he could be closing in on a decision sooner rather than later.

There's been some buzz around him and the Ducks after he was predicted to Oregon and it's got legs to it.

Terry Bussey (Timpson, TX)

Bussey placed Oregon in his top 11, which likely means he has a long way to go. 247sports rates him a five-star and the No. 1 athlete in the country. He has the ability to play running back or receiver in college.

I don't think the Ducks have been heavily involved, but I'm told he could likely pop up on campus in Eugene next month, which is a good sign.

Ryan Wingo (St. Louis, MO)

Wingo is one of the biggest names in the country in the 2024 class and he's been closely linked to Georgia and more recently Miami.

That said, I think he's a long shot for the Ducks, but Oregon is going to continue swinging and see if they can shake things up.

Gatlin Bair (Burley, ID)

The speedy wideout has Oregon in his top five along with Michigan, Boise State, TCU and Nebraska.

He took a trip to Oregon this spring which helps their case, but I think Michigan is the school I've been feeling leads for Bair of late. However, he did receive an offer from Alabama, which could cause him to slow things down.

James Madison II (Fort Lauderdale, FL)

Madison is the main big-body wide receiver Oregon is in the mix with in 2024. At 6'3", 190 pounds he's got a frame the Ducks could use this cycle. He has Oregon in his top five schools along with FSU, Louisville, Michigan and Missouri.

He's probably closer to Dan Lanning than any head coach recruiting him, which is a credit in part to them both being Kansas City natives. I think Madison really likes Oregon, but I could see FSU applying pressure and winning out.

If the Ducks lose out on Madison I think it could be more due to numbers and distance.

Bonus Note

I can't get into too many of the details here, but there's a major talent at wide receiver that is currently committed to a blue-blood program. Let's just say things aren't all sunshine and rainbows between the two parties and I wouldn't be surprised if he opened things up soon.

That said, I expect the Ducks to get a serious look.
