PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers landed a crucial verbal commitment from Marquette transfer guard Greg Elliot on Thursday and on Friday, they put it in writing. The program announced that they had officially added Elliot to the program on Friday.

Panthers head coach Jeff Capel added a statement to the announcement, detailing what he thinks Elliot will bring to the team.

"Greg is a talented guard who brings toughness, three-point shooting, experience and maturity to our backcourt rotation," Capel said. "He has been productive throughout his career and has the ability to really impact the game with his three-point shooting. Greg's overall skill set fits well with the rest of our backcourt and will help enable us to move guys around on the wings more freely."

Elliot averaged a career-high in points during his fourth and final year with the Golden Eagles. He also shot 39% from 3-point distance while taking the most attempts of his career.

He joins a 2022 Pitt recruiting class that includes fellow transfers Nelly Cummings, Blake Hinson, Fede Federiko and a pair of towering high school recruits - Spanish twin brothers Jorge and Guillermo Diaz-Graham.
