DAYTON -- The Pitt Panthers are a four-hour drive down 1-70 right now, preparing to play in their first NCAA Tournament game in seven years. And as they get set for one of the biggest games in their program's recent history, the Panthers will have their entire home city behind them.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin wished the Panthers good luck the morning before they tip off against Mississippi State, telling them to "Come out strong tonight and keep the ultimate goal alive."

Tomlin has a natural connection to the University of Pittsburgh and its athletic department. His office and the Steelers' practice facility are right next door to Pitt football's facilities. He uses that proximity to get a jump on scouting and meeting college prospects before they enter the NFL Draft.
