Pitt Basketball F John Hugley to Compete with East Coast All-Stars in Spain

In this story:
PITTSBURGH -- It was the greatest assortment of basketball talent ever squeezed onto one roster in its day. 30 years ago, the Dream Team, led by Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird, took the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona by storm. As the first US Olympic team comprised entirely of active professional players, they won the gold medal handily. Now, USA East Coast Basketball is preparing to honor the accomplishments of that team with a tour through Spain and current Pitt Panther John Hugley is going to join them.
Hugley will represent the Panthers alongside 13 other college basketball stars on a trip overseas. The team will train at Columbia University in New York City from August 1 to 2 before embarking to Barcelona for a series of commemorative games and activities. They will get to meet with some players from the 1992 team and play three games against players from Spain's Liga ACB.
Ethan Morton (Purdue), Jaylen Blakes (Duke), Cinque Stephens (NYU), Jaden Bobbett (Middlebury), Allyn Breed (Providence), Shamir Bogues (Tarleton), KJ Simpson (Colorado), Logan Alters (California), Brandon Newman (Purdue), JR Konieczny (Notre Dame), Jarrett Hensley (Cincinnatti), Bennie Williams (Syracuse) and Raphael Castro (Providence) will join Hugley on the trip. Alex Jensen, an assistant coach with the Utah Jazz, leads the coaching staff.
Pitt is beginning to build a strong connection to USA East Coast Basketball. Earlier this summer, Nate Santos and William Jeffress traveled with a roster of college players to Athens, Greece, where they played against Greek professionals.
