PITTSBURGH -- Damar Hamlin's remarkable recovery from cardiac arrest has brought him back to football and back to his hometown. In Week 2 of the NFL Preseason, Hamlin returned to the stadium he played some high school and most of his college ball in as a Pitt Panther and reconnected with one of his former teammates.

Kenny Pickett, who played quarterback for the Panthers while Hamlin manned the back end as a safety, embraced at midfield and exchanged jerseys following the Pittsburgh Steelers' 27-15 win over the Buffalo Bills at Acrisure Stadium.

It was Hamlin's first time playing football in Pittsburgh since he graduated from Pitt and was drafted by the Bills in 2020. He faced the Steelers last season in Buffalo, when Pickett made his first NFL start on the road in a 33-3 loss for Pittsburgh.

Hamlin got the better of Pickett that day, starting and making seven tackles while the rookie quarterback threw for 327 yards and an interception with no touchdowns. But this time, Pickett looked sharp, completing three of four passes for 43 yards and a touchdown while leading the Steelers to a pair of scoring drives.
