Former Pitt OT Expected to Make First NFL Start

Former Pitt Panthers offensive tackle Carter Warren is expected to make the first start of his NFL career.

PITTSBURGH -- Former Pitt Panthers offensive tackle Carter Warren has been buried on the depth chart for the first couple of months of his NFL career with the New York Jets, but that could change this week when they face the Miami Dolphins.

According to New York Post Jets correspondent Brian Costello, the former Pitt standout, Warren is expected to make the first start of his still young professional career this afternoon against the Dolphins, with starting left tackle Mahki Becton inactive while dealing with an ankle injury.

Warren has been a mainstay in the Pitt offensive line since 2019. He started 38 of his final 39 games at left tackle before a torn meniscus kept him sidelined for the final nine contests of 2022.

He was considered a prime draft candidate following his impressive 2021 campaign, but returned to school to better his draft stock. He was named a captain prior to the start of his fifth and final season in college football.
