PITTSBURGH -- Former Pitt Panthers star safety and Pittsburgh native Paris Ford was arrested last week in Clarion on multiple charges, according to Allegheny County court records, for an incident that dates back to the week prior.

Ford, a three-year standout at Pitt and former four-star recruit coming out of Steel Valley High School, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of recklessly endangering another person and one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied building during an incident on March 15, according to court records. He was arrested six days later.

He is still awaiting his preliminary hearing.

Ford, a two-time All-ACC selection in 2019 and 2020, left Pitt in the middle of the 2020 season, following a blowout loss to Notre Dame, and was not selected in the 2021 NFL Draft. He caught on with the Los Angeles Rams, signing as a free agent in May but was waived later that August before the start of the regular season. He caught on with the New Jersey Generals of the USFL and played one season before the league folded.

This is a developing story. Inside the Panthers will continue to provide more information as it becomes available.
