Pitt Basketball Target Re-Enters Transfer Portal

The Pitt Panthers could be back on the recruiting trail of this transfer guard.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers have a former transfer target from last season reenter the portal this season in Georgetown guard Dontrez Styles.

Styles played for one season with the Hoyas, starting all 32 games, averaging 12.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, respectively. He also shot 43.0% from the field, 77.6% from the foul line and 36.8% from 3-point range.

His best games this season came in losses against Seton Hall on the road on Feb. 7 and then UConn at home on Feb. 10.

Styles dropped 20 points against Seton Hall, shooting 4-for-8 from behind the arc and made seven rebounds. He then scored 23 points against UConn, shot 8-for-16 from the field and 3-for-6 from behind the arc, while also making six rebounds, two blocks and a steal.

Georgetown struggled during Styles' lone season there, with Ed Cooley starting his first season with the program after 12 seasons with Big East foe Providence. They finished 9-23 overall and 2-18 in the Big East, the second-worst record in the conference

Styles spent his first two seasons playing for North Carolina, making 45 appearances and no starts during that time, averaging 5.9 minutes per contest. He scored 1.8 points and grabbed 1.3 rebounds per game, respectively, while shooting 41.9% from the field, 22.2% from 3-point range and 57.1% from the foul line.

The 6-foot-6 guard/forward will have a number of suitors, but Pitt hasn't shown interest in him yet this season.

The Panthers landed their first transfer in Florida State forward Cameron Corhen, which should serve as one of many newcomers to the program this offseason.
