Report: Purdue Basketball to Play Texas A&M in Indianapolis in 2024-25 Season

Purdue's basketball team already has one nonconference opponent on the 2024-25 schedule. According to multiple reports, the Boilermakers will play Texas A&M at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis next season.

College basketball insider Jon Rothstein reported the news on Monday. The report indicates that the two teams will meet on Saturday, Dec. 14. No official announcement has come from either school at this time.

Scheduling Texas A&M continues a trend for the Boilermakers. Under Matt Painter, Purdue has continued to play quality opponents before the start of the Big Ten season. Adding an SEC foe and NCAA Tournament team from last season obviously creates quite a challenge.

Purdue has gone through three consecutive college basketball seasons with an undefeated record in nonconference play. The Boilers have won 35 straight games against opponents outside the Big Ten during the regular season.

Last season, Purdue finished with a 34-5 record, reaching the national championship before falling to UConn 75-60. The Boilermakers played in the Final Four for the first time since 1980 and competed for a national title for the first time since 1969.

Purdue has also won back-to-back Big Ten regular season championships.

Texas A&M finished last season with a 21-15 record under fifth-year coach Buzz Williams. The Aggies were 9-9 in SEC play and reached the semifinal round of the SEC Tournament before falling to Florida.

In the NCAA Tournament, Texas A&M defeated Nebraska in the opening round before falling 100-95 to Houston in overtime in the Round of 32.
