Purdue senior Ethan Morton has reportedly entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal, according to Verbal Commits. The Pennsylvania native spent four years with the Boilermakers and has one year of eligibility remaining as a graduate transfer.

Morton was a starter for the Boilermakers during the 2022-23 season but took on a reduced role this past season. Purdue added more athleticism to the roster with Lance Jones and Myles Colvin, while also inserting Camden Heide into the rotation.

During his senior season in 2023-24, Morton appeared in 37 of Purdue's 39 games, averaging 10 minutes per contest. He averaged 0.6 points, 1.1 assists and 0.9 rebounds. The 6-foot-7 wing was known for his defensive efforts throughout the course of his career in West Lafayette.

Because of Morton's sacrifice in 2023-24, Purdue was able to reach the Final Four for the first time since 1980. The Boilermakers also played in the national championship for the first time since 1969.

During his Final Four press conference, coach Matt Painter was thankful for the selflessness Morton showed throughout the season.

"When you make a statement, Would we be here without Zach Edey? Braden Smith? No. As you start to trickle down as a coach, you realize importance," Painter said during his media availability on Sunday. "I had two guys that didn't play for me last night, Caleb Furst and Ethan Morton. They started for me the year before.

"With their attitudes, the way they've handled things, been professional as young people, we wouldn't be here without them either. It's a big part of our team. It pains me that they don't play. It's hard for me as a person to do that. I want it to work for each individual."

Morton's most productive season with the Boilermakers came during the 2022-23 season. He averaged 3.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. He helped lead Purdue to a Big Ten regular season championship and a Big Ten Tournament title that year.

In four seasons at Purdue, Morton scored 260 points, collected 205 rebounds, dished out 197 assists and had 68 steals.
