Final: Carolina Wins Series Over Longwood With 10-2 Victory

South Carolinas Baseball program gets another weekend series win, this time over the Longwood Lancers.

Dylan Eskew got out of the gates, and funny enough, he pitched the first inning quickly, only throwing six pitches, allowing Carolina to get to their bats early. It looked as if the Gamecocks would have a big first inning after loading the bases with one out. However, the situational hitting struggles would bite them again, stranding all three runners.

Cole Messina would start the scoring with a solo home run in the bottom of the 3rd inning, but Longwood would answer back in the top of the 4th after two doubles tying the game back up. Carolina would add more behind a shot in the gap from Kennedy Jones and an RBI single for Tyler Causey to make the lead 3-1 after five innings. The 6th inning was set to be a decent one for the Lancers after two walks and two hit-by-pitches, but Chris Veach would get back-to-back strikeouts to keep the game at a 3-2 lead.

Messina would hit his second home run of the day with a two-run shot, scoring Ethan Petry to increase their lead. Parker Noland would add two more runs for insurance with a 2 RBI double followed by an RBI single for Gavin Casas. An error by the Lancers would bring in two more, making it a 10-2 game and heading to the top of the 9th. Veach would take a seat after facing nine batters and striking out seven of them to let Garrett Gainey put the game away.
