How To Watch: South Carolina vs Clemson

South Carolina's Baseball team takes on their arch-rivals in the Clemson Tigers in a pivotal game three matchup on Sunday that'll decide who wins the series.

After splitting the first two games of the Palmetto Series on Friday and Saturday, Mark Kingston and his squad are set for a rubber match against the Clemson Tigers in the friendly confines of Founders Park later this afternoon. Right hander Jack Mahoney is expected to start the game for the Gamecocks, while the Tigers will be starting Billy Barlow on the mound, who's pitched one inning all season long.

After the first two games of the series, one trend that has become apparent for the Gamecocks is that it's taken them the majority of the game to figure out Clemson's pitching, with them being unable to make a rally in game one, yet exploding for 11 runs in their final three innings in game two. On the flip side, Carolina's pitching has been inconsistent overall with some shutdown innings against the Tigers bats' being mixed in with others where they've put themselves in a proverbial hole as Clemson has focused heavily on fastballs over the plate.

In today's game, Mahoney will have to be able to work his fastball to both sides of the plate in order to keep Clemson off-balance. For the Monte Lee coached Carolina hitters, they'll need to make an earlier impact on Sunday's game and could be in attack mode considering the supposed lack of depth Clemson's pitching staff possesses. 

If South Carolina can accomplish both of the aforementioned tasks, then they'll be celebrating a series win over their arch-rivals later this afternoon. If they can't topple the Tigers and drop the series to Eric Bakich and a first-year coaching staff, there'll be questions abound from the fanbase regarding the Gamecocks' ceiling for the rest of the season.
