Gamecocks Annihilate Clemson In 109-40 Blowout Victory

South Carolina women's basketball team didn't take too long to take over against Clemson, and never looked back in a dominating 109-40 win.

The Gamecocks started hot both offensively and defensively in the first quarter. Te-Hina Paopao got the offense firing from the three-point line, and she couldn't miss. Defensively, they were aggressive and didn't give up any easy shots. They held Clemson to just 19% shooting in the first quarter and six points. Freshman MiLaysia Fulwiley was putting on a show and fishing the quarter with 4 points, four rebounds, and two assists.

The second quarter was even more dominant than the first. Offensively, the Gamecocks continued where they left off in the first and dominated on the boards and in the paint. However, that wasn't even the most impressive part; as a defense, they held Clemson to 15% shooting in the second quarter. South Carolina dominated in every facet of the game in the first half.

Clemson came out and played much better offensively to start the second half, but they could not find answers on the defensive side to stop Chole Kitts and Kamilla Cardoso in the paint. However, MiLaysia Fulwiley made that her quarter and was one rebound shy of her first double-double before she fouled out. Fulwiley would leave the game with 18 points, nine rebounds, and three assists.

The Gamecocks would score 100 or more points in their first three games with 3:45 remaining in the final quarter. They would continue to control the game from start to finish. It was led by Raven Johnson, who distributed the ball extremely well tonight.

Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks dominated from the opening tip and played a tremendous game. They moved the ball exceptionally well on offense, finishing the game with 30 assists led by Raven Johnson, who had 17 of those assists. South Carolina Women's basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season and will play South Dakota State on Monday at 7 pm.
