WATCH: Cam Smith And Darius Rush Go Through Testing At NFL Combine

Former South Carolina Football players Cam Smith and Darius Rush went through the gamete of drills at the NFL Combine on Friday afternoon.

South Carolina's Football team is being well represented at the NFL Scouting Combine this weekend, with five players going through interviews, physical measurements and tests, along with on-field drills. Zacch Pickens was the first Gamecock to perform different position-specific skill tests on Thursday, and was followed up on Friday by former teammates in Cam Smith and Darius Rush.

Both defensive backs, who learned primarily under defensive back coach Torrian Gray throughout their time in Columbia, had multiple bright spots at Lucas Oil Stadium, which started with their 40-yard dashes, as Darius Rush posted a time of 4.36 seconds while Cam Smith timed out at 4.43 seconds.

In terms of position-specific drills, the cornerbacks were mainly tested on their ability to react to visual cues with their body and how much they could limit wasted motion through multiple planes of movement. In terms of making lateral cuts, Rush and Smith's experience as man coverage corners shined through.

Cam Smith is a corner that's been projected as a first round draft pick in multiple mock drafts, but came into this week being objectively perceived as a boderline top five corner due to the depth the class brings, but his performance in drills that tested players' fluidity in lower body movement displayed his remarkable athleticism he brings to the field.

Darius Rush didn't put up quite the testing numbers that Cam Smith did, but his length and overall numbers relative to the mean at the position should be enough to take him from being classified as a sleeper to being viewed as a potential day 2 draft pick this coming April. The next Gamecock who'll perform in front of NFL personnel will be wide receiver Jalen Brooks, who'll go through drills later today.
