South Carolina Adds DeAngelo Gibbs

South Carolina has reportedly added former top recruit DeAngelo Gibbs.

While South Carolina has been loud on the recruiting trail this season, one transfer move seems to have slipped through the cracks. Former five-star recruit DeAngelo Gibbs was listed on a South Carolina graphic, meaning he has been added to the program.

Gibbs tallied ten tackles in 13 games over two seasons as a defensive back for the Georgia Bulldogs in the 2017-18 season. In 2019, he redshirted after transferring from Georgia to Tennessee, where he was a key scout player for the team.

Since then, he has practiced as a defensive back and wide receiver at Tennessee. He left Tennessee and seemed to walk on at Bethune-Cookman. He re-entered the transfer portal in November and found himself in South Carolina.

South Carolina could be a good opportunity for the former UA all-American athlete who hasn’t had a lot of opportunities. Gibbs still has the pedigree to do some impressive things at the college level but needs the opportunity.

He was the second five-star prospect the Gamecocks landed on Wednesday, as tight end Nyckoles Harbor ended his long recruitment and chose Carolina. Harbor will play a hybrid tight end in college, primarily as a wide receiver in most formations.
