Gamecocks Receive Visit From Two-Way Lineman Liam Andrews

Shane Beamer and South Carolina's Football staff had a solid weekend on the recruiting trail over the past couple of days, as the Gamecocks landed an underrated linebacker prospect out of Virginia in Fred Johnson. That pledge, however, wasn't the only thing that occurred this past weekend, as South Carolina hosted one of the most unique linemen in the 2024 class in Liam Andrews.

This is only the second time that Liam has been to Columbia in the recruiting process and the first time since he named the Gamecocks in his Top 8 he released back on May 28th. Andrews is a rare high school prospect that plays both offensive and defensive line at a high level, to the point where he's considered a consensus four-star across all of the major recruiting services.
The recruitment of Andrews itself is also one that likely holds a lot more importance now, as the Gamecocks have missed out on other interior defensive line targets like Justin Greene, Jordan Thomas, and Nasir Johnson in the past couple of weeks, misses that are compounded by the fact they went to other SEC programs. While South Carolina is battling the likes of Penn State and Wisconsin, Andrews is a prospect that Gamecock fans need to pay closer attention to moving forward.
