Josiah Brown Narrows Recruitment

Shane Beamer and South Carolina have done a great job building up the roster from the inside out over the past 12 months, emphasizing stacking talent at the lines of scrimmage for the Gamecocks.
Now, the coaches are setting their sights on landing some players at the skill positions on both sides of the ball and are seeing an abundance of success. They landed in-state weapon Mazeo Bennett at the beginning of February and saw home-run threat Jonathan Paylor name the Gamecocks his leader around a week and a half ago.
The Gamecocks are casting a far-ranging net in their recruiting search, especially with special teams coordinator Pete Lembo, who's used his northeastern connections to establish a relationship with New York native Josiah Brown. Brown is a two-way player for Holy Trinity Diocesan School. While he seems partially influenced by the idea of staying close to home, heading to a different part of the country doesn't seem to be out of the question for him based on his top 10 list he released on Monday evening.

The Gamecocks have yet to receive a visit from Josiah, something they'll need to change to remain in the race long-term. Still, there's already some inherent interest, which, if the Gamecocks have their way, could see coaches Justin Stepp and Torrian Gray in a dispute over who gets to develop Brown in college.
