Could early commitments become a trend for the South Carolina Gamecocks in the 2026 recruiting cycle? It started with quarterback Landon Duckworth, who made his pledge this past August, and 2026 defensive back prospect Kevin White out of Dade County, Florida, could be the next offered prospect to pull the trigger.

On a live-stream interview with White, he shared with Gamecock Digest that the Gamecocks are a perfect fit for him.

"I'll be talking to a coach soon to see if I'm able to commit, - I feel like that's great opportunity for me; I feel like I fit there perfectly," said White.

Moments later he expounded on why committing early is so imperative.

"They gone treat me right, the coaches just don't care about football, they care about me and my lifestyle, they're going to get my body right, and the academics are great there," White added.

White was offered by recently hired wide receivers coach James Coley and the South Carolina staff January 11th. Texas A&M, USF and FAU are the other notable offers he currently holds.

White shared the story on how his recruitment process with South Carolina came about.

"I went on a tour with one of my coaches nephews, and it feels like its family thing with the Gamecocks and I like it. Coach Colley likes how I play, my ball hawking skills, my size, I pass the eye test you know,"he said.

Coach Coley, a Miami, FL, native, has an extensive track record that goes back 27 years and includes nine years of experience as an offensive coordinator. Coley's most notable stop was in his background in Miami where he he led the Hurricanes' explosive offense during his tenure from 2013-2015.

Transferring To A Different High School

This upcoming season you can find White in a different shade of green, he'll be transferring to play the well known Killian High School in Miami. Frank Gore and the late Sean Taylor are some notable names that have walked the same halls White will traverse to this fall.
