Why Marcel Reed's Relationship With Terry Bussey Could Be A&M's Most Dangerous Weapon

The Texas A&M Aggies continue to inch closer and closer to the start of the regular season with Fall Camp winding down as game preparation for the Aggies' season opens against the Missouri State Bears approaches.

One of the biggest points of emphasis for the Aggies was their offense, which underwent a number of changes. While the Texas A&M offense remains with starting quarterback Marcel Reed, the offensive line returns just one starter, and every other position group has new faces looking to get acclimated.

And one of the position groups with plenty of eyes on it is the Texas A&M wide receiver room, which has one player standing out throughout Fall Camp who could give the Aggies offensive unit another dimension.

A Marcel Reed and Terry Bussey Connection Could Open the Texas A&M Offense

Becoming a standout throughout the offseason, especially in the Aggies' Fall Camp, is junior wide receiver Terry Bussey. The third-year wideout is putting together the talent that made him a five-star prospect and the No. 1 athlete in the 2024 recruiting class.

And talking to the media on Aug. 21, Bussey talked about what he looked to improve on over the offseason as he headed into his third year in College Station.

"This summer and this spring, I was working on being a better receiver," Bussey said. "Overall at the line of scrimmage, moving people in my routes, being able to create separation and stuff like that."

The former highly sought-after prospect hasn't necessarily set the world on fire since arriving in the Texas A&M program. Bussey has seen the field in 25 games with one start, but has recorded only 35 receptions for 411 yards and a lone touchdown in two seasons.

Now a veteran in the program, Bussey seems to be a lot more comfortable in the Texas A&M offense as he begins to notice strides in his game.

"Not even just being a standout, I mean just going back to the film from my freshman year and even last year, seeing the improvements I've made," Bussey said. "At the line of scrimmage, in my routes, and just being able to come out of my breaks and just the overall difference in the player I've become at the receiver position."

The Texas A&M wide receiver corps is loaded with talent in frontline players Isaiah Horton and Mario Craver, who will undoubtedly be Reed's top receiving targets. And getting in the mix will be junior Ashton Bethel-Roman, who grew into a big factor a year ago.

However, while the wide receiver room could be crowded, Bussey should not be lost in the shuffle, and he has done plenty throughout Fall Camp to still be noticed.

Bussey's strength comes in his versatility, being able to play at any wide receiver spot on the field, giving him more of a chance to impact games. The wide receiver could even line up in the backfield and catch a pass from the running back spot, giving Reed a different option to get one of his top playmakers the ball in space.

Having a player as versatile as Bussey, it'll give offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins a chance to get creative and move the wide receiver around like a chess piece, giving Bussey the best opportunity to show off his skill set.

Bussey mentioned how important it is for him to be a versatile wide receiver, which will add a new dimension to the Texas A&M offense.

"I pride myself on being able to do everything," Bussey said. "A little bit of a big kind of receiver, fast, shifty. I pretty much want to be able to do everything."
