Know Your Foe: Cincinnati Baseball Players to Watch

Key players from the Bearcats you will need to know when they take on the TCU Horned Frogs this weekend.

The TCU Horned Frogs take on the Cincinnati Bearcats on April 5-7. Here are some key Cincinnati baseball players that TCU fans should know before the series.

Likely Pitching Rotation:

Friday- #27 Seth Logue

Senior Right-handed pitcher from Mason, Ohio

The 6'1" left-handed senior pitcher has been up and down this season. Logue does provide a decent amount of solid innings but has given up quite a few runs this season. When he has been great this season, he has limited walks and hits. Because of the amount of runs he has allowed, he has a 9.79 ERA. However, Cincinnati just needs him to go long against TCU so they can turn to their bullpen.

Saturday- #32 Tommy Boba

Sophomore Right-handed pitcher from Wheaton, Illinois

The 6'2" right-hander has been solid this season. Boba holds a 6.82 ERA with 28 strikeouts and twelve walks over 33 innings pitched. Opponents are batting .257 against him. He gives the Bearcats potential to go long innings. He has shown us this season that he has what it takes to go eight innings. This has been key for the team, so they can save their bullpen if needed for Sunday. The Horned Frogs will look to get to him early, so he doesn't have time to settle in and go long in this game.

Sunday- #11 Nathan Taylor

Freshman Right-handed pitcher from Amelia, Ohio

It is not very often that you see a true freshman in the starting weekend rotation. However, the 6'4" freshman will likely get the nod on Sunday for the Bearcats. They will ask him to give them at least four solid innings in this matchup. He is coming off of a start where he only lasted just over an inning and gave up six runs on five hits. Taylor does have the ability to give this team five decent innings, but it depends on which Nathan Taylor you are going to get. He has maintained a 6.67 ERA. The Frogs must capitalize on him early and not let him get settled in. If they can do this, they will be in good shape for this matchup.
