It was all Horned Frogs in Game 1 of this weekend's Big 12 Matchup against Houston, as TCU dominated on all fronts. TCU moves to 3-7 in conference play with the 14-1 win and looks to win its first Big 12 series Friday at 6:30 p.m.

While the TCU hitting coming alive is a headline in itself, Louis Rodriguez was the main character of Thursday's game with a stellar performance rivaling Payton Tolle's from last week. Rodriguez's final line on the night: 8.0 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, and 10 Ks. It's the 2nd time a TCU pitcher has had a scoreless outing in the last four games, both of which have gone eight or more innings.

As Louis Rodriguez did his job on the mound, the TCU hitting woke up with a vengeance around the 4th inning, where the Frogs struck for four runs off of a double and single. Chase Brunson, Logan Maxwell, and Luke Boyers all had 3-hit games, while the rest of the TCU lineup all had multi-hit games as well. The hitters went a combined 21/43 on the night while running off Houston's ace, Antoine Jean in only four innings.

In other news on the night, Head Coach Kirk Saarloos reached 100 career wins as head coach with the win tonight. Dallen Leach and Camden Sos both collected their first hits as Horned Frogs in the win. Leach, a grad student from Tallahassee, Florida, doubled on the first pitch he saw, later scoring to extend the TCU lead. Sos made his presence known in a big way Thursday night as well, going 2-for-4 in his first start. Sos was the designated hitter for TCU and showed he could be the guy the Frogs need when the lineup is struggling.

Payton Tolle takes the mound Friday night with one goal in mind: to secure the series for TCU. The Frogs' bullpen should be rested well considering TCU had no midweek game.
